Upgrading or Downgrading Your Plan

As your monitoring needs change, you can easily upgrade to access more features or downgrade to reduce costs. This guide explains how plan changes work and what to expect during the transition.

Upgrading Your Plan

Upgrading gives you immediate access to additional features and higher limits.

How to Upgrade

1. Click your profile icon and select Billing.

2. Click Change Plan.

3. Select your new plan from the available options.

4. Review the changes and new pricing.

5. Click Upgrade to confirm your upgrade.

What Happens When You Upgrade

  • Immediate access – New features and limits are available instantly
  • Prorated billing – You’re charged only for the remaining days in your current billing cycle
  • Data preserved – All your monitors, status pages, and historical data remain intact
  • Check intervals – Monitors automatically begin using faster check intervals (if applicable)

Upgrade Pricing Example

If you upgrade from Pro to Business on day 15 of a 30-day billing cycle:

  • Pro credit: 15 unused days = credit applied
  • Business charge: 15 remaining days = prorated amount
  • Amount charged today: prorated Business cost minus Pro credit
  • Next billing cycle: Full Business plan price

Downgrading Your Plan

Downgrading reduces your subscription cost but also reduces your available features and limits.

How to Downgrade

1. Click your profile icon and select Billing.

2. Click Change Plan.

3. Select a lower-tier plan.

4. If you exceed the new plan’s limits, you’ll be prompted to select which resources to keep.

5. Review the changes and click Downgrade to confirm.

What Happens When You Downgrade

  • End of billing period – Your current plan remains active until the end of your billing cycle
  • No prorated refunds – You keep access to your current plan until it expires
  • Resource selection – If you exceed new limits, you must choose what to keep active
  • Data preservation – Historical data is preserved according to the new plan’s retention policy

Managing Resources When Downgrading

If your current usage exceeds the new plan’s limits, you’ll need to select which resources to keep:

Monitors: Choose which monitors remain active. Deselected monitors are paused (not deleted) and can be reactivated if you upgrade later.

Status pages: Select which status pages stay published. Others are unpublished but preserved.

Team members: If downgrading from Business/Enterprise to Pro, you’ll need to remove team members before the downgrade takes effect.

Switching Billing Cycles

You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time. Annual billing typically saves you 20%.

How to Switch Billing Cycles

1. Click your profile icon and select Billing.

2. Click Change Plan.

3. Use the Monthly / Yearly toggle at the top of the plan selection to switch billing cycles.

4. Click Upgrade or Downgrade on your current plan to confirm the billing cycle change.

Switching to Annual Billing

When switching from monthly to annual:

  • You’ll see the discounted annual price (typically 20% off)
  • You’ll be charged the full annual amount immediately
  • Any unused time on your monthly plan will be credited

Switching to Monthly Billing

When switching from annual to monthly:

  • Your annual plan remains active until expiration
  • Monthly billing begins after your annual term ends
  • No partial refunds for unused annual time (except within 30-day guarantee period)

Canceling Your Subscription

To cancel your paid subscription:

1. Click your profile icon and select Billing.

2. Click Cancel Subscription.

3. Optionally provide feedback on why you’re canceling.

4. Confirm the cancellation.

What Happens After Cancellation

  • Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period
  • After expiration, your account converts to the Free plan
  • Monitors exceeding Free plan limits are paused
  • Status pages exceeding limits are unpublished
  • Historical data beyond 90 days is deleted (Free plan retention limit)

Reactivating After Cancellation

You can resubscribe at any time:

  • During your remaining billing period: Cancel the cancellation to continue uninterrupted
  • After expiration: Your account is on the Free plan with its limits and 90-day data retention
  • Resubscribing restores access to paused monitors and higher limits, but deleted data cannot be recovered
